Fly Corporate today announced the introduction of a direct air service between Armidale and Brisbane.
Flights will commence Monday 1 August 2016 with weekday services leaving Armidale at 6.15am and returning from Brisbane at 5.10pm. With a flight time of around 60 minutes this will allow day return passengers from Armidale a full business day in Brisbane, before returning on the late afternoon service.
Armidale Dumaresq Mayor Cr Herman Beyersdorf stated today that the commencement of flights linking Armidale to Brisbane will underpin the role of Armidale Regional Airport as an airline hub offering services to domestic and overseas departure points.
“The inclusion of a regular air service to Brisbane opens up the New England region to many possibilities not only for increased tourism and travel but for business as well,” said Cr Beyersdorf. “Access to major centres like Brisbane and Sydney increases our exposure and image as a destination and as a progressive regional city with easy travel options.”
CEO of Fly Corporate, Andrew Major, said the airline is very pleased to be able to re-introduce direct Brisbane services to the Armidale community that he firmly believes will boost key business markets for both Centres. Flights will depart Armidale Monday to Friday and depart Brisbane Sunday to Friday.
“Armidale Dumaresq Council have been very supportive in the lead up to the establishment of the new direct link with Brisbane and we are also aware and appreciative of the many indications of support from the Armidale community. The reintroduction of this service forms an integral part of Fly Corporate’s ongoing commitment to enhancing accessibility to and from Australia’s regional communities. Brisbane offers a readily accessible gateway for Armidale and the surrounding district to connect with 28 international destinations” Andrew Major said.
