New Direct Air Service Between Tamworth And Brisbane

23 September 2016

Fly Corporate today announced the introduction of a new direct air service between Tamworth and Brisbane. Flights will commence Monday 31 October 2016 with weekday flights leaving Tamworth at 6.30am and return flights arriving from Brisbane at 6.45pm. With a flight time of just over 60 minutes this new service will provide passengers from Tamworth the opportunity to spend a full business day in Brisbane as well as providing an increased opportunity to connect with domestic and international flights.

Additionally, there will be morning flights from Brisbane on Tuesday and Thursday mornings arriving in Tamworth at 9.55am with a return flight to Brisbane on these days departing Tamworth at 3.50pm. Weekend travellers will also be catered for with a Friday evening service to Brisbane departing Tamworth at 7.40pm and a Sunday evening service arriving from Brisbane at 6.45pm.

CEO of Fly Corporate, Mr Andrew Major, said the airline is very pleased to be able to offer these new services which will greatly enhance connectivity between Brisbane and Tamworth. With Fly Corporate already operating popular services from Armidale, Narrabri, Moree and Coffs Harbour to Brisbane, these additional flights to and from Tamworth reinforce Fly Corporate’s ongoing commitment to enhancing accessibility to and from regional centres. He noted Brisbane is increasingly becoming a capital city of choice for many people in Northern NSW – be it for business, pleasure, education or accessing medical services. Brisbane also offers a readily accessible gateway for residents of Tamworth and the surrounding districts providing connections to 28 international ports and dozens of domestic destinations.

Mr Major also stated that he would like to thank the many businesses and individuals who have encouraged Fly Corporate to bring these services to Tamworth and also the Tamworth Regional Council for their support.

Tamworth Region Mayor Col Murray said Tamworth Regional Airport recorded a 14.6 per cent growth in passenger arrivals over the last year with the total number of passengers expected to reach more than 200,000 this year.

“The new service is another show of confidence in the business growth of Tamworth. I welcome any service that provides additional options for residents and visitors to the Tamworth region,” said Cr Murray.

“I’ve heard many comments from the business community that they would like to see some early morning access to Brisbane and late evening return to suit their business calendars.”
